PRIVATE WORK

If you're here, you probably already know whether you want to talk. So this is just the detail.

What the work is. How it runs. What you're agreeing to.

The decisions founders bring

Most of it comes down to a handful of decisions.

The person you've known for months you need to move out, and haven't.

Sell, raise, or keep compounding, and the fact that you've been circling it for months.

Kill the thing or fund it properly, when the honest answer changes depending on the day.

The cofounder or board situation you can't discuss inside the business without it becoming the business.

The month the money stopped being theoretical. Runway you can count, or one client who was half your revenue giving notice.

The point where the company and the rest of your life have started making decisions for each other.

What these have in common is that you've already heard every opinion, and none of them were disinterested.

Two ways in

One decision.

We take a single live decision and pressure-test it properly. Either a half-day in person, or two 90-minute sessions over video. Usually around three weeks from start to finish. You leave knowing what you're going to do and why. For some founders, that's all they need.

The standing work.

A private engagement for founders who'd rather not go back to deciding alone every time. Six months to start, then it runs on until it doesn't. Most of what follows on this page describes this one.

How it runs

It opens with a half-day in person in London. We map the whole picture, business and everything attached to it, and we take the first live fork the same day.

After that it's 90 minutes every fortnight, in a standing slot my calendar holds. Not "when we can both find time". The slot exists whether or not you've got something urgent, which is the point of it.

A half-day in person again each quarter.

And a direct line in between. If something lands on a Tuesday that can't wait a week, it doesn't wait a week.

Six months to begin with, because anything shorter measures the wrong thing. After that it's rolling.

By the end of the first month, you should have made a decision and had it stand up to scrutiny.

Confidentiality

This gets written down before we start, not assumed.

Nothing you tell me is referenced anywhere, in any room, with anyone. If we work together, that's a guarantee.

Capacity

I'm taking 3 founders this year and I won't go beyond 6.

The work isn't scalable by design. Fortnightly slots and quarterly half-days only divide so many ways.

What happens next

One call, 20 minutes, just to see whether this is the right kind of support for what you're carrying.

If it isn't, I'll say so and I'll tell you what I think would be.

If it is, you get a one-page letter of terms. No deck, no second call to talk about having a call.
